Celera is a diagnostics business delivering personalized disease management solutions through a combination of tests and services based on proprietary genetics discovery platforms. The business operates from four facilities, with two located in Alameda, CA, South San Francisco, CA and Rockville, MD, the business employs about 540 people and has the full capability to discover, develop, manufacture and secure registration for In Vitro Diagnostic products. The recently acquired Berkeley HeartLab provides a CLIA-certified laboratory with corresponding sales force and experience in securing reimbursement.

The business is developing diagnostic products that predict disease risk, and optimize therapy selection, monitoring, and patient outcome, based on the discovery and validation of novel markers in complex diseases such as cardiovascular disease, breast cancer, and liver and autoimmune diseases. Another goal is to capitalize on the value of our discoveries through partnerships to develop new therapies, identify new disease indications for existing drugs, and to provide pharmacogenomic and companion diagnostic tests.

Celera has a strategic alliance with Abbott Laboratories through which the companies sell and support molecular diagnostic products. Celera's discovery platforms are the basis for multiple discovery and therapeutic product development collaborations.

Celera (symbol CRA) is one of the two tracking stocks of Applera Corporation. Applied Biosystems (symbol ABI) is the other, and both are traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
