VALIDATION OF DISCOVERIES | ||||||||
|
An important part of target development at Celera is validation of the discoveries coming from the Mass Spectrometric platform. This increases the level of confidence in the differential expression observed in disease and helps streamline the pre-clinical discovery efforts. One of the ways we confirm differential protein expression is to examine the level of protein in independent tumor and normal tissues by immunohistochemistry. The over expressed tumor protein typically stains red compared to the blue background of a normal cell. In addition to validating the expression of the targets, Celera also addresses the biological role that the protein may play in the metabolism and growth of the tumor. Insight into the physiological role of the protein helps in prioritizing targets for therapeutic opportunities.
