| CLINICAL TRIAL ENRICHMENT | ||
We have novel disease association study results1 that predict disease prognosis in the following therapeutic areas: coronary heart disease, deep vein thrombosis, stroke, and cirrhosis from chronic hepatitis C. Clinical trial enrichment is one prospective use of these prognostic markers allowing clinicians to select a study population in which detection of a therapeutic effect is more likely. Celera continues to identify and publish in peer-reviewed journals additional prognostic signatures.
The application of PGx markers to select a high risk patient group can result in faster, less expensive clinical trials and earlier registration for a patient group of exceptional medical need.
Celera's work with genetic risk scores of liver cirrhosis caused by hepatitis C virus infection demonstrate that use of PGx markers would markedly reduce the population sample size needed for a clinical trial and enable clinicians to enroll HVC patients with greater risk of cirrhosis.
