Applied Biosystems Group and Celera Genomics Group Financial Results Scheduled for Release July 26, 2001

Norwalk, CT - July 11, 2001

Applera Corporation announced today that it plans to issue fiscal year 2001 fourth quarter and full year results for Applied Biosystems Group (NYSE: ABI) and Celera Genomics Group (NYSE: CRA) on Thursday, July 26, 2001. Results are scheduled to be released before the opening of trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

Tony L. White, Applera Corporation’s chief executive officer, will lead a conference call to discuss the results and to address management’s current outlook for each group. Dennis L. Winger, Applera’s chief financial officer, and senior managers from Applied Biosystems and Celera, will join Mr. White to answer questions from securities analysts and investment professionals. The call is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. (Eastern Time) on July 26.
