Applera Management to Hold Conference Call to Discuss a New Business Initiative for Applied Biosystems and the Online Information Business of Celera Genomics
Call is Scheduled for April 22 at 10 a.m. EDT

FOSTER CITY, CA and ROCKVILLE, MD - April 19, 2002

Applera Corporation today announced that management will hold a conference call with investors and the media on Monday, April 22, 2002 at 10 a.m. EDT to discuss a significant new business initiative for its Applied Biosystems Group (NYSE:ABI) as well as the outcome of its analysis of organizational alternatives within the Company's overall structure for the online business of its Celera Genomics Group (NYSE:CRA). A press release on these subjects will be issued earlier the same day, April 22, at 6 a.m. EDT. Financial results for the Applera businesses will be released as planned on April 25 and will not be discussed on April 22.
