Applied Biosystems Group and Celera Genomics Group First Quarter FY 2003 Financial Results and Conference Call Scheduled For October 24, 2002

Norwalk, CT - October 15, 2002

Applera Corporation announced today that it will issue fiscal year 2003 first quarter results for Applied Biosystems Group (NYSE:ABI) and Celera Genomics Group (NYSE:CRA) on Thursday, October 24, 2002. Results are scheduled for release before the opening of trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

Tony L. White, Applera Corporation's Chief Executive Officer, Dennis L. Winger, Applera's Chief Financial Officer, and senior managers from the Corporation’s businesses will lead a conference call the same day at 10:00 a.m. (EDT) to discuss these results and to address management's current financial outlook for the company. The call will be formatted to focus on each of the Applera businesses separately, with the following expected start times:

Applied Biosystems Group		10:00 a.m. (EDT)
Celera Diagnostics		10:45 a.m.
Celera Genomics Group		11:00 a.m.

During each segment, the management team will make prepared remarks and answer questions from securities analysts and investment professionals.
