Celera Genomics and Celera Diagnostics to Webcast Presentation at Piper Jaffray Healthcare Conference

Rockville, MD and Alameda, CA - January 22, 2004

Applera Corporation announced today that Celera Genomics Group (NYSE:CRA) and Celera Diagnostics, a joint venture of Celera Genomics and Applied Biosystems Group (NYSE:ABI), will webcast a presentation at the Piper Jaffray Healthcare Conference on Thursday, January 29, 2004. The webcast is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. ET. Vikram Jog, Vice President of Finance, Celera Genomics and Celera Diagnostics, will discuss the therapeutic discovery and development programs of Celera Genomics and provide an update on molecular diagnostics discovery and development programs at Celera Diagnostics.

Interested parties may access the live webcast and replay by visiting the Investors & Media section of the Celera Genomics web site at www.celera.com or the Investors & Media section of the Applera web site at www.applera.com. It is suggested that participants access the webcast 15 minutes before the start of the live broadcast. The replay will be available through March 22, 2004.
