Celera Genomics Appoints Lothar Krinke as Vice President, Business Development and Strategic Planning

Rockville, MD - March 20, 2001

Celera Genomics (NYSE: CRA), an Applera Corporation business announced today that Lothar Krinke has been appointed vice president, business development and strategic planning.

In this new position, Mr. Krinke’s focus will be on business development and potential mergers and acquisitions directed towards Celera’s Discovery Sciences strategy and the expansion of the group’s Information business.

Previously, Mr. Krinke was at A.T. Kearney Inc., a global management consulting firm, where he was a vice president in the pharmaceutical practice responsible for helping biopharmaceutical companies to develop research and development and marketing strategies. Prior to that he worked at McKinsey & Company, another leading management consulting firm.

Mr. Krinke obtained his undergraduate degree in biology from Technische Universitaet Braunschweig in Germany and his Ph.D. in molecular biology from the State University of New York at Albany. He also held an American Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellowship at the California Institute of Technology.
