Applied Biosystems Group and Celera Genomics Group First Quarter FY 2004 Financial Results and Conference Call Scheduled for October 22, 2003

Applera Corporation announced today that it will issue fiscal year 2004 first quarter results for Applied Biosystems Group (NYSE:ABI) and Celera Genomics Group (NYSE:CRA) on Wednesday, October 22, 2003. Results are scheduled for release before the opening of trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

Tony L. White, Applera Corporation's Chief Executive Officer, Dennis L. Winger, Applera's Chief Financial Officer, and senior managers from the Corporation's businesses will lead a conference call the same day at 11:00 a.m. (EDT) to discuss these results and other matters related to the businesses. The call will be formatted to focus on each of the Applera businesses separately, approximately at the times indicated below, although the exact timing may be different as the call will proceed without pause between segments:
