Human Leukocyte Antigens (HLA) genes are part of a highly polymorphic complex of linked genes in the human major histocompatibility complex (MHC), which regulates immunity. Classical HLA antigens are expressed on the surface of most tissues in the body, which allows the body to identify “self” from “non-self”. Tissue/HLA Typing is the process of identifying the alleles of the HLA genes which a person has inherited. Matching for the HLA genes will help prevent rejection of the transplant.
The AlleleSEQR® HLA PCR/Sequencing Kits* and AlleleSEQR® Heterozygous Ambiguity Resolution Primers (HARPs) are designed to provide high resolution identification of alleles of the human HLA-A, -B, -C,- DRB1, -DQB1, and -DPB1 genes through sequence-based typing (SBT).
